Peggiann Combs, born April 7, 1953, in Bremerton, Washington, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in Okemah, Oklahoma. She was the beloved daughter of Robert and Lois Miller.
Peggiann attended Tumwater High School and Rochester High School respectively in Washington state where she excelled as a Head Majorette, member of FBLA, Girls League, FHA, Pep Club, Band, Drill team, and played basketball, volleyball and ran track. She competed in national and world baton twirling championship competitions. In 1971 she was crowned Miss Washington of Baton Twirling and competed at the national competition Kansas City MO. After graduating in 1972 from Rochester High School, her passion for movement and performance led her to teach gymnastics, twirling, dance and drama in several public school districts in Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. She also served as a substitute teacher and worked extensively with cheerleaders, drill teams, and young women coaching and preparing them for pageants and modeling competitions.
Peggiann married Neal Combs on June 6, 1981 in Olympia WA, and together they shared 43 wonderful years filled with travel, exploration, and memorable adventures. In 2014, they moved to Okemah Oklahoma. Peggiann became an active member in the community managing the Holiday House on Broadway, participating in the Okemah Garden Club, Chairwoman of the OSU Extention, contributing to the Okfuskee County Home and Community Education, 4-H, and FFA. She provided art projects for children at the kids café, taught basket-weaving classes, and served on the Okfuskee County Historical Society board. She was honored by the Okemah City Council proclaiming June 7, 2021 as Peggiann Combs Day for her selfless service to her community.
Peggiann’s life was marked by her selfless dedication to others and her community. She leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and vibrant memories.
She is survived by her loving husband, Neal Combs, and her three sons: David Borsheim and his wife Felicia of Tacoma, WA, Tadd Alfonsi and his wife Stephanie of Amarillo, TX and Corey Alfonsi and his wife Alison of Topeka, KS. Peggiann was also a cherished grandmother to Carson Alfonsi, Caylee Alfonsi, Trilby Alfonsi, Tenzly Alfonsi, David Borsheim Jr., Alexa Borsheim, and Janiya Borsheim. She held a special place in her heart for each of them, cheering them on from afar in all their endeavors. She is also survived by 4 sisters Sandra Lee Castelli of Olympia WA, Rebecca Sue Brandt and husband Kenneth of Arizona, Deena Kay Judge and husband Wayne, of Olympia WA, Patricia Rae Ott and husband Robert of Humptulips, WA. 4 Brothers, Robert Miller Jr. and wife Mary of Oakville WA, Scott Allen Miller of Grandmound WA, Daniel Mark Miller and wife Terri of Tumwater WA and James Johnson Miller and wife Darce of Bend OR, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lois Miller Sr, her in-laws Clyde and Leona Combs, and her first husband, Ted Alfonsi, 2 brothers George James (Doug) Miller, and Michael David Miller.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her healthcare team of nurses as well as Dr. Roslyn Dean, Dr. Aleda Toma and Traditions Health.
A private memorial will be held at a future date.
