Scott & Angel Wilbourn
Owners
Scott & Angel moved with their four children to Lindsay in December of 2006, when Scott became Pastor of The First Church in Lindsay. Scott had worked for Boydston Funeral Home as a Funeral Director/Mortician since February 1, 2014, and Angel had worked as a volunteer and assisted with funeral services. Since receiving her insurance license from the State of Oklahoma in June of 2014, Angel had also served as the preneed consultant for the funeral home. But their experience in funeral service began many years ago, back in their hometown when they were still in high school.
Scott began working at the age of 16 for Hudson Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma, in September 1989. Three years later when he married Angel Barksdale on August 8, 1992, his plan was to make the funeral profession his life's work. He and Angel moved to Texas where Scott attended the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, graduating in February, 1994. The two of them returned to live in Holdenville and Scott went to work for Stout Funeral Home in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Scott worked for Stout Funeral Home from June of 1994 through April of 1996, before moving to Wilburton, Oklahoma, where he managed Jones Funeral Home until June of 1998.
Scott left the funeral profession for a few years beginning in June of 1998, when he formed Happy Home Construction and built and remodeled homes for several years. As the oil business increased in Oklahoma, he went to work as a welder, building drilling rigs for Bronco Drilling until March of 2007, when he became a contract welder for Rinehart Construction in Lindsay in order to work closer to home.
Angel began her college education in 2005, but then put her personal interests on hold for several years while she home schooled their four children, Stephanie, Kurt, Ben, and Mattie. Stephanie, Kurt, and Ben have all married and settled with their spouses in Lindsay. Kurt and his wife Makayla have three sons and a daughter, Denver, Desmond, Dexter, and Freya. Stephanie and her husband, Caleb Blankenship have two sons and a daughter, Quentin, Sebastian, and Eliana. Ben and his wife Sarah own and operate Wilbourn's Heating and Air. Mattie is a licensed CNA.
With the task of providing her children's education nearing and end, Angel returned to college in January, 2016. She graduated Summa Cum Laude at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, with her Bachelors Degree in Funeral Services. She has joined the funeral service, and is a licensed therapist.
Scott has always loved people and loved to serve, and his passion has always been serving people through the funeral business. His family shares his enthusiasm for service to others. Stephanie works full-time and Sarah works part-time at the funeral homes.
